So Jewels has yet to actually eat anything but her pellets and seed. I'm at my wits end right now. She will beak and lick at new foods but won't eat it.
She watches me eat the same things and seems to be interested so she will come over to me bite at it(not taking anything though)and fly away. I put a mix of peppers in her bowl with her pellets and some seed so she'll recognize it being something to eat, but again she'll just pick the things out that she likes. So now im thinking that dehydrated fruits and veggies might be a good thing to try, but will they offer the same nutrition as eating fresh?
not that I'll stop offering her fresh foods, but I'll feel much better when she has a more varied diet. I also wanted to add that I gave her and almond which she ate and seemed to enjoy because I thought they were good for her in moderation, but than I read that they are harmful?

sorry for the long jumble but I want her to have the healthiest diet I can give her, thanks

How old is Jewels? My Molly loves cherries (fruit cup type), strawberries, green and red grapes, bananas, walnuts, steamed corn, cooked sweet potatoes, apple slices and raw carrots. If all these items were together in a bowl, she would likely only eat the walnuts and corn.

She did not just jump at these either. It has taken months.

It does often take a long time to get them to eat the right things. Then, they'll eat only what they want. My fids like dehydrated veggies & fruit. And eat very little fresh. I buy the dried veggie mix at the health food store. Plus, Petsmart sells a treat mix of dried carrots & bell peppers that they love. I cannot remember the company name, but it's in a small bag hanging with the other bird treats. Dried fruits & veggies have concentrated vitamins, etc. Just don't feed too much. And, almonds are fine for your lovie. Slivered almonds are often used as a training treat by many of us.

Jewels will be a year next month. I've been trying different foods since I got her at 2 months old and no luck, well except for the almonds.

I thought since she transitioned to pellets went so quickly that it would be the same for everything, but I was completely wrong lol

They eat what they like, when they want to. That's why we have to constantly offer them different good alternatives.

They def don't like making things easy for their silly humans lol, but lucky for her it's tax season so I can spoil her more than usual.

I haven't tried corn yet, and im going to try a sweet potato and carrot mix tomorrow. For oatmeal is it just regular kind that you buy for yourself?

if she liked it, I would def hide baby food in it lol

Thanks Spiritbird, I'm going to look into that for sure

Thanks Roxy!!!
Some new ideas to try with her

Oh by the way, the rice was so good cooked in the carrot juice. It was brown rice and orange after cooking and so so good. Ummmmmmmmmm. This idea was in the Phoenix Landing cookbook which I love.

i have the opposite problem. when i got my IRN he was eating zupreem pellets and a good seed mix. so of course i suplemented this with fresh fruits, veggies, pasta, oatmeal, rice, nuts whole grain bread, and a bite whatever i am having. (doesn't like dried fruits)
now, he won't touch his pellets or his seed mix at all. it just sits there untouched. he waits for me to give him something.
i worry that he is getting enough nutrition now.

Our birds just like to make us nervous lol
