I really want Quinn, Blue and Z to be in the same room, but my 'bird room' isn't anywhere close to finished.

I have that 'Gotta have the biggest cage I can find' disease and Quinn (Orbeas CAG who is scheduled to arrive on Monday) is going into a huge macaw cage.

Blue is in a cage intended for a Hy. I can fit at least 6 kids in there.

*sigh*
These 2 cages won't fit in the same room. I mean, they can if I'm willing to move the tv. The problem is, I just did that back in March. In fact, I almost burned down the house because when I hung the mounting bracket, I hit an electrical wire with a lag bolt. That was a fun day. No, really. Instead of a simple move across the room, I got to tear out a 2' x 4' section of sheetrock and fix it. My 2 hour rearranging took 6 days.

Like I said, eventually, when I finish the plans for the basement, they'll be down there with me. But for now, it's not happening. I'm still working on my master bathroom. So here are my options for the time being.

1. Keep Blue in the livingroom where she's at. Move Quinns cage into the kitchen and leave Z in the breakfast room.
Advantage: the cages will fit in the house comfortably.
Disadvantage: they can hear each other but not 'see' each other. They also get woken up early in the morning since I get up at 5

2. Stack my sons in the same room like sardines and take over one of their bedrooms as a temporary bird room.
Advantage: Birds have their own room!
Disadvantage: one of the children may kill the other. I'd lose a tax deduction.

3. Turn the breakfast room into a temporary bird room. Take out the table and chairs and make the kids eat on the floor.
Advantage: They'll all be in the same room
Disadvantage: I'll have a harder time than I do now of convincing people my kids aren't animals and the birds still get woken up early in the morning.

4. Move the birds to the room in the basement even though it's not finished and bring them upstairs during the day on playstands.
Advantage: They'll be in their own room with the chance to get plenty of sleep.
Disadvantage: The room isn't finished yet and I don't have a willing victim to bring up the amazon.

5. Ditch the chair from the livingroom since I have a couch and loveseat and cram both macaw cages in there.

hey... wait.. I might do that!

Your solution is: get a house with three more rooms, another bathroom and a finished basement...remove an adjoining wall between two of the bedrooms to create a large bird room.....problem solved, then you can bring in another child, for the extra bedroom you'll have, to give you another deduction to pay for it all.....

Just got to think out of the box on these things Gina.....

I knew I could count on you weco! You're so sensible and rational! I don't know why I didn't think of that before. I could move the parrots to a friends house for a bit, move the tv again, start another fire and 'struggle' to put it out until my house is a pile of ashes. This way the insurance company builds me another house. The advantage is, I'll get new furniture that doesn't have 'notches' taken out of it and a finished basement that includes my master suite with my much desired steam shower.

I think we're on to something here!

I'm going to pm you my husband's cell phone number. Please inform him that he needs another job because I have 'issues'.

Also, please wait until I'm safely out of reach or harm's way.

Not a problem Gina, just let me know the best time to call & I'll take care of it.....
i'm safe, about 1,900 miles away.....

Just to be sure, that I don't get things confused, I'm to tell him the plans above or that you two can work on another child for the deduction...without further elaboration ? ? ?

Yes please

I would go with using the breakfast room! LOL It is what I did. My kids think I rock because we now eat off wooden TV trays in the living room. The plus being if you can close if off some how with curtain or door you can "put them to bed"

You guys are too much...good thing I wasn't drinking anything while reading it....lol

Yeah, Mikey, Wendy, our super mod. has similar problems.....she has to evacuate any liquid or solid material she might have in her mouth before reading some posts/threads.....

I'm the same way...I have to make sure I'm not eating or drinking anything while reading the forum. Last time I had spit balls all over my computer screen.
