I really want Quinn, Blue and Z to be in the same room, but my 'bird room' isn't anywhere close to finished.
I have that 'Gotta have the biggest cage I can find' disease and Quinn (Orbeas CAG who is scheduled to arrive on Monday) is going into a huge macaw cage.
Blue is in a cage intended for a Hy. I can fit at least 6 kids in there.
*sigh*
These 2 cages won't fit in the same room. I mean, they can if I'm willing to move the tv. The problem is, I just did that back in March. In fact, I almost burned down the house because when I hung the mounting bracket, I hit an electrical wire with a lag bolt. That was a fun day. No, really. Instead of a simple move across the room, I got to tear out a 2' x 4' section of sheetrock and fix it. My 2 hour rearranging took 6 days.
Like I said, eventually, when I finish the plans for the basement, they'll be down there with me. But for now, it's not happening. I'm still working on my master bathroom. So here are my options for the time being.
1. Keep Blue in the livingroom where she's at. Move Quinns cage into the kitchen and leave Z in the breakfast room.
Advantage: the cages will fit in the house comfortably.
Disadvantage: they can hear each other but not 'see' each other. They also get woken up early in the morning since I get up at 5
2. Stack my sons in the same room like sardines and take over one of their bedrooms as a temporary bird room.
Advantage: Birds have their own room!
Disadvantage: one of the children may kill the other. I'd lose a tax deduction.
3. Turn the breakfast room into a temporary bird room. Take out the table and chairs and make the kids eat on the floor.
Advantage: They'll all be in the same room
Disadvantage: I'll have a harder time than I do now of convincing people my kids aren't animals and the birds still get woken up early in the morning.
4. Move the birds to the room in the basement even though it's not finished and bring them upstairs during the day on playstands.
Advantage: They'll be in their own room with the chance to get plenty of sleep.
Disadvantage: The room isn't finished yet and I don't have a willing victim to bring up the amazon.
5. Ditch the chair from the livingroom since I have a couch and loveseat and cram both macaw cages in there.
hey... wait.. I might do that!
