My Goffins has been getting progressively worse with his 'baby bird' attitude. He'll sit up top his rope ball and moan incessantly, when i try to get him down he bites me. I was told that when he puffed up, starting whining, and followed my hand around that he was looking for baby food. So i've fed him oatmeal, cream of rice, mashed warmed banana etc. He still eats plenty of seed in his cage, so he's not starving.

Should i stop feeding him warm mashes? Is it only encouraging the biting? Today he bit my hand, shook it, and screeched while he did it, absolutely refusing to come down from his rope ball. How do you deal with a bird that big biting? I've always pushed past it with my other birds, all they could do was break the skin, which isn't a big deal to me. This one could break my finger if he wanted. o_O So i can't exactly just let him have his little tantrum without reacting.

like a child when they throw a paddy, ignore behaviour or if its mash etc he wants, make him come down for it!!

thats what i'd do, though could be wrong?? i am sure they have a birdy sayin about biting the hand that feeds you causes treat to drop lol (or in nuts case, causes me to eat said treat!)

he might not really want mash, but since your giving it to him, he'll eat it, but still cross you haven't got what he wants so bites??

I am giving you a link to a fantastic avian behaviorist who also writes very valuable educational articles. She especially likes cockatoos. I suggest you read each and every article as you sound very frustrated and I am sure the bird must be also. Good luck and keep us updated. https://companionparrotonline.com/Member_Articles.html

Fantastic! Thanks tons, it's so hard to find decent behavioral guides for birds online. And cockatoos are so different from other birds, this is great.
