Houdini, Peeper, and Little Blue--the Budgie Trio
Meet Cyrus, my son's new love. We adopted him from a home with too many birds, and he didn't have a friend. He is a two-year-old turquoise GCC. Here, Henry feeds Cyrus peanut butter (organic, with flax seeds) from a little silver spoon. Really.

Cyrus is our first cuddle-bird. The budgies just do their happy dances, and the Amazon doesn't want to be touched. So here is my question, now that Henry and Cyrus wander around the house together, or do homework together: any advice on the poopy shirt thing? Other than I'm going to be doing a LOT more laundry now?

Sorry--I'm not sure how to rotate the photo. Grr.

Awww welcome home Cyrus! As for poopy shirt Henry could throw a hand towl over his shoulder, and also start the potty training thing. Maybe a small table top play gym that he could take with him to his room or the desk when doing homework. My lil gcc is not flighted by potty training is going the best it can. In the begining i would take her to her cage every 10min or so and as soon as she started to go poop I would say "go potty" and then tell her good girl. Anyway now I can kind of tell when she needs to go so I put her on her cage or play stand and tell her go potty and she will. She even poops now as soon aa I come near her cage (in hopes that I will pick her up)
Good Luck! And Im glad Henry has a new buddy!
Ps stock up on the laundry detergent when its on sale! :D

Cyrus and Henry have many years of fun in their future, and thousands upon thousands of poops. I have a bunch of t-shirts that nobody was wearing or that got worn out, stained, etc. I use those to drape over my shoulders (and I clip together the ends from underneath, in front of my chest, so it stays on). When necessary, I turn it inside out and and flip it over and continue to use it (I wipe off the poops before turning it inside out).

I have some other things that make good shoulder-drapes too (kitchen curtains I don't use anymore, towels of various sizes, extra fabric from projects). I keep Pritti's laundry separate and wash it all in hot water and mild laundry detergent on super-duper clean mode. Been working fine for long time.

Have fun.

I never specifically toilet trained Birdy, but he naturally doesn't like to poo on things that he likes.
If I place him on the ground every 5 to 10 minutes, he'll do his business right where I place him. Normally I'll pick him straight up once he's done pooping, and he's recently got the idea that pooping will increase his chances of getting picked up. Pretty handy when he does it just before we go out! :)

I was thinking of asking a few friends with toddlers for old, extra diaper and burping cloths. Meanwhile, Henry is avoiding homework by researching potty training... This morning, after Henry left for school, Philip (age 9) took advantage of his extra half-hour and brought Cyrus into HIS room. I found them hanging out on the bed together, Cyrus listening bemused while Philip explained math concepts. Am I going to need a bird for each boy???
