a pair of mulga parrots
Well i have now had another sun conure thrust upon me... much to my surprise this is my 5th bird i have been given by people that just cant handle the noise and the tantrums that they can sometimes throw. I had him dropped into me about 2 weeks ago.
He was very very nervous and barely left the back of the cage except to eat and drink, but whenever i moved he was off back to his safety zone. Today was a major surprise to me i was outside feeding the breeding pairs which are outside the back door when all of a sudden something landed on my shoulder... to my major shock it was a sun conure, slightly confused and surprised i walked back inside. And put it in the wash house. Now i have several breeding pairs outside and 5 birds inside so i set about checking if it was an escapee. I started outside and checked all the aviaries thinking i must have left a door open... nope, all accounted for so i went back inside and checked all the sun cages inside... yet again nope all accounted for. At this point i was insanely confused and racking my brain trying to figure out where it had come from. I guess the excitement was too much for me because i had forgotten to check the quarantine area in the back room of the house and there i noticed cuba was missing from his cage!! The little sod who was scared of his own shadow had opened his feeder door and proceeded down the house and outside where he hust have crapped himself and seeked the nearst familiar thing (me). Now he is one of the most outgoing little beggars ive met but only when its just me and him otherwise hes hiding again... moral of the story... padlock the doors before something happens similar to this. I was very lucky i was outside at the time otherwise it could have been a horrible outcome for cuba!
