Crimson Conure (M) - Chronos
Hello! I just found this website today and really need some help.

I own three birds. A Cockatiel who is male and almost 2 years old, a female Pineapple GGC who is turning a year old next month and recently got a beautiful male crimson conure.

My female GGC wanted to bond with the cockatiel but he hates being touched except his head so she felt pretty lonely and would most often spend time with me and my boyfriend. We have had her since early September. We got the Crimson conure because he looked gorgeous and we figured the female GGC would be happy she has a friend.

I've been so frustrated and stressed out because of this Crimson. He's extremely loud, an attention hog and he bites extremely hard. We made the mistake of introducing the birds the day after we got the Crimson and now the Crimson and Pineapple just want to be with each other. The crimson cries and squawks like no tomorrow if we take the pineapple away and when we try to separate them, they run away from our hands. As well, the Crimson has a terrible habit of when he is in the cage and wants to be with the pineapple, he'll climb all over the cage thinking he can get to her. He does this at night too and he doesn't easily go to sleep when he wants to be with her.
He also bites me and my boyfriend if he doesn't get what he wants or if he's hungry, he bit me so hard a few days ago I had a bruise.

**The crimson is about 4 months old. He is provided with fresh food and pellets(With some seeds) every day, he has toys, he has a big enough cage. As well, there is a uvb light near the cages which we turn on for a few hours each day for the birds.

What should I do? I live in an apartment and his voice is much louder than I anticipated but really don't want to get rid of him. I'm worried we might get a noise complaint soon and we've only had him since Friday.

Sounds like you need to do some pretty quick training, but I don't know of any, sorry.....

Your problem sounds like you got your crimson may just be too young to be on it's own and is crying for flock companionship and your only choices may be to allow them to be together, find a temporary home for the crimson or find him a permanent new home.....even if you can find a temporary home for it, you may be faced with the same problem later.....

Good luck.....
