Cracker the Snugglebug!

I know Cockatoos are supposed to be the big snugglebugs of the parrot world, but I just find it hard to believe that even a Cockatoo likes to snuggle more than Cracker. Cracker is almost most like a cat or a dog in his foundness for scritches. Today he did something he never did before. While I was scritching the top of his head he sort of got on his side and lifted up one wing and let me scritch him under his wing. I know Cracker is not a perfect parrot. He is not potty trained and will go to the bathroom anytime he wants. If I do not give him his way or watch him very carefully he will still sometimes give me a good peck with his beak (this habit is becoming less frequent thankfully) Despite these shortcoming on his part (and perhaps my part also) I could not ask for a more affectionate companion pet. I can see how other parrots on this forum can be just as affectionate as Cracker. I do not see how they could be more affectionate.

I'm so glad he's being nicer to you, and that he's such a snugglebug. I love birds like that.

It took a while for Dusty to warm up to my family when I first brought him home. He never let me touch his tail feathers or wings or really mess with him at all. Now he will let me play with his wings (he will even let me clip his wings without a complaint) he also will lay in my hand while I trim his nails. It took a long time to get to where I am with him (a few years of constant yet patient effort on my part) Dusty now loves it when i scratch under his wings.

It's amazing how cuddly some birds can be. Our red-front, Jade, can't get enough attention. She rolls on her back on my lap to get her tummy scratched and will lie in the crook of my arm like a baby. Max thinks she needs to work on her self-respect.

You doing a great job, sounds like Cracker is definitely settling down.
You certainly have started to gain his trust.
They are just like children, testing us all the time LoL.
Keep up the good work.
