I am now totally convinced I lucked into buying one super intelligent Greencheek Conure. This morning, when I called Cracker to come to me, (I always say "Here Cracker Cracker Cracker" when I want Cracker to come to me) Cracker came to me which was no surprise. What did surprise me is that when he did come to me he said "Cracker Cracker Cracker." I was not even trying to teach Cracker how to talk because I was told Greencheeks were not the best talkers. I wish I could say I went through extraordinary lengths to teach Cracker how to talk, but I made zero effort and I mean ZERO EFFORT to teach him to talk. This is a behavior he taught himself. When I bought Cracker I think I won the Greencheek Conure lottery!

Congrats! I'm so glad you're becoming more and more satisfied with Cracker, because I remember you were having some tough times with the biting problem before. Speaking of which, how is that going?

Cracker is doing amazing, and so are you LoL
Whatever you say, they take it in. They are learning all the time.
Mishka learnt how to sneeze, when we sneezed. She started saying yachoo yachoo
One day out of the blue, I sneezed, she said bless you bless you. We never taught her to say bless you bless you, she is always listening and learning.

LoL just be very careful what you say ....................

Cracker is still a very strong willed bird. When I try and get him to do something he does not want to do or he does not get his way he will still give me a good peck to let me know he is one unhappy bird. His bites, lucky for me, are becoming less and less frequent. Cracker is also one fearless and confident bird. I can vacume, turn on the blender, or blast my music and it will not phase him in the least. He also is one very confident bird. Cracker does not walk, he struts. He will hold his head up high and straight and kind of puff up his little birdie chest as if he was hawk or an eagle rather than a dinky little Greencheek. On top of all that he is also one giant cuddlebug and a big chow hound. He is just full of personality. I have never had a pet the likes of him before. For a pal who likes to bite when he does not get his way and still uses me as a toilet he is not half bad.

Its good that you can find the bright side of things, I believe that if people keep a positive outlook on everything, they will live a very happy life. Just remember all of the things that Cracker does that makes you happy, and makes you laugh. It will get you through the problems, and make them seem a lot smaller. Keep it up!

That sounds a lot like Pineapple. He struts, and tells me if he doesn't want to do something. He's just a little nicer about it. If he does not like a new food, he will shake his head or throw it as if it is a frisbee. If he is hormonal, he will refuse to come out of his cage by either climbing to the back or grabbing (not biting, just holding it real tight) on to my hand as a 'warning'.

But overall, he is still a great bird.

I wish Pineapple could give lessons to Cracker on the merits of showing his displeasure in a nicer and more polite manner.

Yeah, that'd sure be nice! :D

I got blessed when Pineapple turned out to be so gentle and polite. I like how he understands his boundaries... that is, until he finds a button on my shirt. He loves buttons. For some reason, I can't tell him to stop chewing on those without getting that 'warning' bite!
