Cracker Likes Me to Rub the Top of Head

I think I found something Cracker likes even more than treats if possible. Cracker just loves it when I gently rub the top his head in the opposite directions of his feathers. I also started to gently rub the side of his head below his eyes and he kind of tilted his head sideways like a cat does when you scritch him. Despite of what I percieve as setbacks, I really think Cracker sort of likes me, and is beginning to like me more and more.

That's great! When you find more ways to reward, training and bonding becomes so much easier. I'm so glad that he's beginning to bond with you, keep it up!

Sunshine like scritches in the same place, you should also try to give him soft scritches on the back of his neck in the same manner (opposite to where his feathers lay). Sunshine started to close his eyes when I did that one day.

Bonding is taking place well done.
At night, after playing, talking and training Mishka, she loves for her head to be rubbed, I rub just below her eyes LoL then she falls asleep on my lap.
Then it's nightie nightie

I just tried what you suggested. Cracker did not close his eyes. He sort of titlted his head up an started opening and closing his beak. He looked like he was in parrot heaven. I also dicovered he likes to be scritched on his neck just below his beak. Cracker is transforming from a Parrot into a snuggle bunny

It's wonderful to hear from a member that great progress is taking place.
Each bird is so different, their personalities, likes and dislikes.
The only way is to play and discover what they enjoy.

My previous AG Gigi, used to love being cuddled, She would windle her way, under our t-shirts, head for the arm pits, get cosy and fall asleep. When she needed to do her business, she would wiggle out, and say potty please.
Unfortunately she passed away 4 years ago.
Rubbed Mishka below her eyes now now, LoL I think she gets hypnotized when I do that....
Keep up the great work, rewards will be flowing in daily.....

Kiwi LOVES her head and neck "scritched" too..........when she's had enough, she will sometimes bite.......so don't take that personal if that should happen.
