Cracked eggs

So one of my pairs were apparently not being very careful with their eggs and two of them had a cracked shell in multiple places. I decided to repair them, incubate them and see what would happen. So far both of the eggs are developing unexpectedly great which honestly surprised me. Has anyone had success with repairing eggs during the first few days of incubation before? Is it likely that they will still hatch normally or is the chance on DIS high? I've found many cases of repairing eggs near hatch but couldn't find anything on eggs this young. Just wondering what I should expect.

I have no clue...how did you repair them? My concern would be that they cracked due to a deficiency etc.


If they do hatch, you are going to have to raise them yourself, which will mean hourly feedings etc (24/7)--so start researching that now.

What kind of eggs? Do you have a scale sensitive enough to monitor the weight loss? Dehydration/over hydration are going to be your main dangers during incubation, and be sure you are ready to assist with hatching if necessary.

I have had to raise from hatch before & still have all materials so I don't think that'll be too much of an issue. The parents aren't very experienced yet and the mom is very rough when turning and tries to push away all bedding (which I keep replacing, but still). I used a piece of gauze drained in waterbased gum glue. I am weighing all of them and so far they seem to do as well as the 'normal' eggs.
