- Gcc- Conlan... Sun Conure- Mouse...Jenday- Kellan... RLA- Happy...B&G Macaw- Rhage
My Gcc, Conlan, will be 3 next month. I've had her since weaning, and diva doesn't even cover her attitude ROFL.
She's picky about her food, and how it's placed in her dish, she's picky about being touched, she demands her morning scratches as soon as my feet touch the floor, and she's got the temper of a viper.
But she's my constant. My companion. My teacher. My child. My best friend. My second in command.
This little green ball of attitude that I bought on a whim (I had done research on birds in general before deciding to get one, but I sure wasn't expecting to get one at the time), has become my world.
Our start was rocky at best. She was nasty to the point I thought I would have to take her back to the store. But I was committed. And with the help and encouragement of her hand-raiser, the store owner, my confidence grew and so did our bond.
She's beyond smart. And while she's not a cuddle bug by ANY means, she's my constant companion. Her favorite spot is on the arm of my glasses while I read. She'll play with my hair, groom me, and sleep.
Neither of us asking for anything but sharing a quiet moment together. Even when I'm sick, she's always ready to just be close. Like she's comforting me without me asking or her speaking.
But last night proved her love. She was on her play stand, she has a play top cage, when I suddenly felt dizzy and sat down to prevent a fall.
I don't remember laying down, but the next thing I know, I'm laying on my back looking up.....
And guess who's making her way down the side of the cage to the floor? My Conlan
She came down, got onto the floor, and crawled up my side to my chest, and peppered me with 'kisses', sounds included.
She 'braved' the trek to the floor and over to me, and sat there until I felt well enough to move again. Then she steadfastly refused to go back onto her stand, instead crawling up my arm to my shoulder.
She then napped in my hair while I read a book, occasionally sipping my apple juice.
I love all my fids... But this girl? She's my world. And I can only hope I'm blessed enough to have her for a healthy and happy 20+ more years.
