Coqui Goes To School!

My B&G Macaw Coqui went to visit my daughters 3rd grade class. We've had Coqui for over a year and a half now and she is slowly coming along with her socialization. She did great during our visit.

She is still aways from being touched by others and may never get there, but she seems to enjoy seeing everyone when we do take her out on "field trips".

Oh Blanca!!! I love the photos!! Morgan's become QUITE the photographer! I love even more that you took Coqui to school, and to hear how well she did. Pfft, who cares that she didn't want to be petted, but just think of how FAR she's come! :smile015: I have goosebumps over here.

Morgan actually really loves taking photos. I gave her my old SLR to have fun with. I was really happy with how well Coqui did!

I'm ok with her not getting petted. I know she will bite, so touching is off limts! LOL! But people really enjoy seeing her from afar. So all she needs to do is be herself and she is certainly good at that! LOL! If she never gets to the point of being touched by others, I am really ok with that. She is who she is!

Blanca this is an awesome idea! Great to get some basic bird education out to those young impressionable minds, since we have so much misinformation out there about pet birds. I love that he has his hoodie on to look like one of the school kids .

I always love the great questions that the kids come up with, too! The hoodies are always a big hit. LOL!

It's funny you say that. Once my employee Kelly asked my daughter Morgan if everyone at school that it was cool that her parents owned Vermont's largest candy store. She said "No, they think it is cool we have parrots!"

So the birds won over candy.
