Sun Conure - Mango
Hi all,
My husband and I are considering getting a pet rabbit, and we already have a 15 month old sun conure. I'm just looking for other peoples' experiences with having both conures and other pets. Obviously, we want both Mango (the conure) and the new rabbit to be comfortable.

From what I understand, birds and rabbits make excellent companions! I don't have any firsthand experience, but I know it's likely to be a better relationship than conure + dog/cat/ferret/etc. Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about them. Just make sure they're always supervised so nothing happens. The only thing I can think of is if the Sun bites the rabbit or if the rabbits gets all hyper and tries to play. My old rabbit use to do that and play with my cats for hours but they were big enough to take him on. They usually just sat on his head lol

I think a rabbit would be fine. Now some rabbits do get aggressive, so you have to watch for them interacting. My sister had a rabbit that was very aggressive. It even beat up my cat! The rabbit I had was very sweet though and there were never any problems with my other pets.

We found a rabbit we loved today, so we brought it home. It's living inside in the bathroom until his hutch arrives later in the week. Mango screeched quite a bit when we first brought the rabbit inside, but he seems okay now. We haven't taken the rabbit near his cage though, it's just been in the adjoining room (open floor plan) where he can see it, but it isn't close. Hopefully they will get along!

I hope they do, too. And if they don't, you just may have to put one in a room while the other is out. I have to lock my cat up all afternoon to let the birds out. I wish I didn't, but it's safest for all of them that way.
