I'm just curious as to why we chose the names we do for our little pals.

I chose Peanut as a unisex name. I love Jeff Dunham and Peanut is my fave character. But If he turned out to be a she then it wouldn't be awkward! Peanut is just like his character namesake, mad, hyper and very funny!

if i get a green cheek for my bday in May i am going to name mine Mishka [Indian for " gift of love"] Any tips for how to convince your mom?

I never really had a name in mind even though I had been looking into getting a bird for 6 months. After I got him we went to dinner and my boyfriend, daughter and I all kept throwing around names. All of a sudden my boyfriend said "Token"....we all agreed, and it seems perfect.

I haven't had the chance to name a conure....

Noel, my cherry head, was given the name because he was, well, red an green. Noel is a Christmas name, so I assume that's how he got it. Interestingly enough, I also got him 3 days before Christmas! If he had a name before that, I don't know what it was.

Charlie also came with his name, and he's a mitred conure. I have no clue why he was given that name, but he knows it well and it's also a popular pet name for birds and dogs alike.

If I get another conure someday, maybe I'll get a chance to give him/her a name! Or not. :)

I named my yellow sided gcc Chiquita because of all of her beautiful colors. she reminded me of a tropical fruit salad. and the woman that I bought her from seemed to think she was a girl and she breeds several types of gcc conures. Worse comes to worse I will have a boy named Chiquita:D:)

if you just got him, then wait till you know his/her personality better. Then come up with a name. Check out my names for green cheeks thread and subscribe the one you like the best and you are welcome to take any of them if you like them!!

Nope. Sadly my lovely Mum passed away from cancer last year. I'd been wanting another bird for a long time after my cockatiel Buzz passed away in 2009. I consulted a friend who is a clairvoyant medium to talk to Mum. During the reading I asked her to ask Mum what she thought about getting another bird. Surprisingly Mum said to go for it, the time was right for a new face in the family.

So on 11/01/2013 Peanut came to join us and we haven't had a dull moment since! We have a Birman cat called Harry who, although interested in Peanut, will run a mile as soon as Peanut starts screaming at him!
