Hi there! I just became the Parront of a little female, black-headed Caique named Bean. She is super sweet and friendly, however she is constantly making cries that sound like she’s asking for food. Anytime we pet her or hold her or approach her in any way she’ll start her cries. She seems very contented otherwise, but the way she just keeps crying no matter what is starting to concern me. The breeder I got her from seemed to be very reputable and knowledgeable about caiques, and she said that Bean’s hatch day was June 28th of this year. She’s been eating her pellet/seed mix just fine, and she likes to lick the juice off of pomegranate seeds so I don’t think she’s hungry at all. Is she just an extra talkative baby? I’m just getting concerned because she can’t sit on our shoulders without screeching straight into our ears and I’ve never had such a vocal baby before.

Something babies can regress in a new home and the stress. You can by baby bird food at the pet store and offer syringe feed, and see if that helps, sometimes they just need one feeding a day for comfort. You can contact the seller and see what they advised. Also new birds can take a bit to settle. I'm going to find the link to an article I really like and add.

i agree with above, she might be asking to be fed. if she was handreared then she will be used to getting food when she is bought out of the cage. you could carry on and top her up as someone has suggested, i chew nuts up and spit them out on the palm of my hand and all my parrots love this, it's also good with bonding with your little parrot, also make sure you give your bird chopped us fresh greens and fruit, mine love grapes and apple. good luck. they are a great little bird.
Human saliva can carry many bacteria that parrots have nodefense for ( spit not being a part of their natural surroundings.) I would not rteccommend this at all.Comm'l baby parrot food,mixed with water, not spit,is a better idea.
