My wife and I Pineapple is coming home today. I have mostly everything ready, and I hope the heaters I picked out are ok. I have done a lot of research and picked three. They have all been running for over three weeks, and two of which have been running for 3 years.

The two over three years are.

The one I got three weeks ago

Brand New SMAL Digital Oil Filled Electric Radiator Portable Heater 1,500 Watts on eBay!

The heaters is the only thing that scares me, but being my basement gets really cold there is no choice but to have heaters. I hope my research pays off. I still do not have a good answer, but most websites I have been too suggested these heaters, than of course they say maybe not!! :11:

Why does your bird have to reside in your basement and not on the same floor with you? You wouldn't need to purchase a heater, and your bird will be able to enjoy watching and interacting with you.

Can I just say how exciting it is to see such a devoted parront who hasn't even brought the little guy home yet. I know we see it a lot ( people bringing their first bird home) but I got a really good feeling about you and your wife. Have fun today! Bringing them home is exciting and scary!

I'm sure the heaters will be fine! If not you'll figure out what does work.

Because we live in the basement. :p It's only a temp, but it's at least 6 more months until we can move out.

I got into some hard times, and now I am working myself out of it. My family has been kind to me to let me and my wife life in the basement apartment for the past 5 months. Now that I am out of the no job situation, we are taking advantage of the situation with my families permission to save up and buy a house.

The only thing that sucks about living in the basement is having to ask permission for everything we bring in like the bird. LoL!:green2: I had asked

Ah. Got it!

Congratulations, and enjoy your new baby. He/she is going to bring you both many years of smiles and happiness!

Thanks, we got back from the pet store just now. Here is a few pics of our new bird. Along with one of our cats. It's so funny how different our cats are. One is watching it and the other does not care about it. We already introduced him to the cats and he does not seem scared at all. :p That and the heaters were two big concerns of mine.

Here is a question, how long should I leave him in the cage? He seems he already wants to come out and be with us. Should we keep him in the cage a few days and let him get acquainted, than take him out? Or should we just let him be out with us tonight if he wants too?

Be careful of the cat. Remember that the cat is a predator and the bird is prey. The cats intuition is to kill the bird while the bird has no reason to fear the cat as the cat has never done anything to make the bird fear it. Even if the cat and bird seem to get along, never, ever leave them together unattended.

Congrats on your new addition to the family. Enjoy and be careful!

Congrats on bringing him home!

Leave him in the cage for as long as he needs! If he wants to come out same day you brought him home, then allow him out! If he doesn't, then give him a few days to settle in.

Wish those thumbnails were bigger so we could get a better look at your new baby.

I agree with Molly Green Cheeks, and would recommend that whenever you have your bird out to perhaps put your two cats in another room with the door closed. Cat saliva is poisonous to birds.

I like your cage!

He is shacking like a leaf. So I went ahead and covered the cage for a little while so he can get use to the cage. I am not planning on having my bird out of the cage unless we are with it. I know cat saliva is poisonous. I just want to give him time to adjust to his new area.

He seems scared, and when I take him out he seems to clam down, but he needs to learn to be in his cage. So I put him in and covered it for a while so he can get over the car ride home.

As for my cats, he will be fine. We know to watch and talked to a lot of bird people that also has cats. So we got a lot of good tips.

Have you tried clicking on the images themselves? Enlarged, they are a pretty good size.

Congratulations from another pineapple GCC owner! Mine is called Jasmine and she is 7 months old now. Be prepared for a few bitey/ beaky weeks but stick with it as now the only bites i get are love nibbles :)

Beautiful bird you got there and a very appealing cage set-up. I agree with others be very wary of your cats. My wife has always wanted a cat and I love cats since I grew up living with some beautiful felines but I am too chicken to take that risk. The only thing I would suggest is if you have a small stuff animal then place it in your birdy hut. Since Conures are known to snuggle, your bird will be very happy sleeping @ night. I tried this with my baby Sun Peaches and she fell in love with it right way. Peace be to you and all the best with your housing situation. Pets are wonderful that they can reduce stress in our daily lives. They are true blessings.

Congrats on your new baby! I'm also very impressed with his set-up. Can you tell me what cage that is?

Congratulations on your pineapple... They have such beautiful colours...

My little baby is named Squirt, and I hand raised her from 10 days old, because the parents stopped feeding the babies... The oldest one didn't make it... :(

This is the cage.

It's all right, it works for him. It seems a little cheaply made, but it's sturdy enough once put together.

This is the cage cover I got.

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Prevue-Hendryx-Products-Universal-Cover/dp/B0002AQ5ZC/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1353935783&sr=1-1&keywords=cage+cover]Amazon.com: Prevue Hendryx Pet Products Universal Bird Cage Cover, Large, Black: Pet Supplies[/ame]

Fits perfectly over the cage!

As for the cats, it was funny. He was crawling over our bigger cat, and the cat didn't mind. He bit onto the tail of the cat, and it was just funny to watch. Mostly they are just curious of the bird and haven't really paid to much attention to the bird. I will try the stuff animal, but where should I put it? On the bottom of the cage? When I opened the cover today he was on the top left corner of the cage, I don't know if he slept there all night, but he was perched and wide awake so I hope he slept. I do have a happy hut in their that he used at Jacks all the time. Same tent I just brought it from the store to give him familiarity. I might put it in the corner I found him today at.

Is the basement drafty? Without the heaters how cold does it get? IF needed to, having heaters would be one of your best options to go to keep your new baby warm. He's gorgeous by the way!!! Another thing you could do is by using a clamp on shop light and use a 60w bulb to clamp onto the cage to give him warmth. It's very nice for your family to help you guys through the hard times and even nicer of them to allow you guys to have a bird! :)

I like the cage too! I want to get one like that for my GCC. Do you have a link to the kind of cage you got? It looks like a great set up!

Congrats on your new baby, i'm getting mine this saturday! he is a 4 month old turquoise GCC. your pineapple sure is pretty!
