cockatiels egg broke

So I have a breeding pair of cockatiels they have mated and a few weeks later I go out to my aviary and there was an egg on the ground of the aviary cracked.I don't know why they didn't just lay it in the nesting box the nesting bow was there with nesting material since say one .and its been about two weeks since the broken eggs and there has been no more eggs .any advice?.salt pearl

How old is the pair? How long have they been together? How much have they worked the box?
