I started to clicker train Hedwig. So fair he is doing well. He knows click means treat and is now targeting.

That is reaaly nifty m8 Ipersonally don't have patience for that kind of training. Cheers and best wishes for your training

How long have you been doing the clicker training? I am getting a Senegal this weekend and am contemplating clicker training with Max.

Do it! It is great! 10-20 mins a day, four to five times a week. It works great. If you want to do show training, well you need to do a lot more training. But just for friendship and basics (i.e. step up, handling, nails, fun) you don't have to put tons of time in.

We are enjoying it so fair. Right now we are doing 2 clicker traning sessions a day in addition to 2-3 sessions of harness traning a day. The hard part is keeping them spaced apart. The durations varries on Hedwig, I always call it quits on a positive note.

Hedwig is the first bird that I have/am clicker trained. There are many books out there to help anyone get started. I recommend Karen Priors books (I have seen her lectures and she is clicker training). Chicken camp is another good start for hands on learning.

My baby (actually almost a teenager) is going to start her clicker training regimen as soon as the clicker I ordered comes in the mail with her new toys! I'm going to start working out of the house soon so I want our time together to be more structured and stimulating for her.

Just a quick update- Hedwig has mastered targeting and is now working on "fetch". I am currently building an agility course to test his skills

Awesome! Keep up the good work! My B&G was 9 when I started clicker training, he pretty much hated it. But I did get him to step up much better, wave, and target, and moderate success on recall. But it got to the point where we couldn't do more than a couple mins before he would very obviously tell me he was done. I am going to start back up again soon though, maybe use a different tactic.

Just so you know you don't have to have a clicker to clicker train, the clicker is an auditory cue that we make with our hands. We are able to process movement faster than sound, that's why clicker training can be more accurate, often by the time we target with sound from our mouths the behavior is past but the clicker can connect right at the point of interest. Alternatives to clickers can be pens (this is what I use, it's soft and quiet) or even metal bottle lids that pop (used these with dogs afraid of the noise).

Clicker training is both a teaching and learning, when I first clicker trained my dog I had inadvertantly taught him that touch was "point nose in x direction and sit" when I meant for him to "touch nose to target". This was simply based on the timing of my click.
