I was wondering if it was necessary to sanitize toys between two birds that are constantly around each other? Like besides general cleaning is there anything else I need to do. I have an old rope perch I was trimming for a new bird - I hosed it off in the sink with really hot water - is there enything else I need to spray on it I know you have to be carefull with chemicals. Thanks alot I know this sounds complicated

Kelli, Is this other bird yours, has it been living with you for a while, If yes then no the hot water would be fine.

I have a cage cleaner that is also a disinfectant, safe even if you were to spray it on the birds by accident. I usually give shared toys a quick spray with this after they have been soaked in boiling water.

yes I have had this bird for a little over 4 years and she has never had any health problems I might look into a cage cleaner though. there are so many types which one would you reccomend?

The one I use is called "Keep it Clean", the reason I use this one is that it is a very good cleaner, Deodorant and Disinfectant. If I can't get this particular one then I make sure that I get one with Deodorant and Disinfectant in there. Does a whole host of jobs and if very safe for our feathered friends.:D
