Cleaning Perches Question

Hello!

I read somewhere I can soak Jasper's wooden perches in the bathtub if I don't have a dishwasher? Do you just soak them in water? Temp? How long? Then do you put them in the oven to dry them? Again, temp/how long?

Also, how do you clean boings? I tried water/toothbrush but it's pretty caked on.

PS: The large wooden perch will not fit in the oven.

I just clean my perches in a large sink and then let them air dry they generally dry within 2-3 hours. Boings may take longer, so I'd let those air dry over night.

I spray my perches with cage cleaner that has a natural acting enzyme to remove caked on droppings. Works like a charm. Then I put them in hot water and wash them thoroughly with dish soap and a scrubbie. After that I rinse them with hot water again and lay them out on a towel to dry.

I use AviTech. There's also a cleaner called F10 that is used by veterinarians to completely sanitize cages and items. Both are great

I soak Bundii's boing in the laundry tubs overnight just using s small amount of laundry detergent. This softens all of the crud. I can then use a nail brush to scrub clean and then I hang it on the clothes line all day in the sun. This ensures it is dry and the hot aussie sun should kill anything that is left.

Perches I usualy soak in a weak mixture of vinegar and water and then either air dry or dry in the oven.

I just throw the boings and the cargo nets in the washing machine, and wash them with mild detergent.

The cages I roll outside and pressure wash. In the winter, I steam clean. Just water, no chemicals.
