Gilbert Oliver, Blue Crown Conure; Georgie, Sun Conure (2/8/01-8/8/12) RIP little girl; Percy, budgie 1993-1999. RIP Pepito-spanish timbrado canary
I am on my way out the door for my 25th HS class reunion. I have had a few messages asking if Gilbert was coming. It seemed people wanted to see him, so I considered bringing him. (I still live a block from my high school, so he could go to the reunion and then I could call my dad to pick him up and bring him home). Anyhow I found out the room would be decked with helium balloons and they scare him a little so he is not going.

But how funny is that? It is like he is my other half! :)

I thought he would have a blast with all the attention, and the buffet. LOL

Patti, that is too funny! Maybe for the next reunion they will do without all the balloons so your other half can attend:)

I hope you are having a wonderful time and I would love to hear all about it tomorrow.

Have fun Patti! :) I've never been. I'm old enough :52: just never wanted to go since HS brings back bad memories for me :(. Would be interesting to see what people look like and what they're doing though.

Sounds like fun! My husband just had his 10 yr, but we didn't go to it being a 23 hour drive. My 10 yr is in a couple of years and I'm still debating on going to it lol. At least it's only a 12 hour drive.

I just realized the other day that I've been out of school for 30 YEARS:11::11:

Where does the time go?? Anyways, hope you have a great time at your reunion..too bad Gilbert can't attend...maybe next time.

High school reunions are a blast! I live a 25 minute drive from mine and have attended two thus far..... the big 40 yr is coming up in 2 years. Any fellow "Mustangs" from San Dieguito High serving Encinitas/Leucadia/Cardiff by the Sea, and in the early years, northern coastal San Diego CA??

Impressions....

At the 10 year reunion everybody was recognizable though many kids underwent an interesting metamorphosis: some of the late-blooming ladies were drop-dead gorgeous while a few of the "jock" guys were paunchy with receding hairlines! Farthest travelled was a guy working in the oil industry in Saudi Arabia, longest married were two high-school sweethearts.

The 20 year reunion seemed the "great equalizer" in that most everybody had noticeably aged from early adulthood. Folks seemed less pretentious and more at ease with themselves. There were quite a few long-term friendships that had been maintained over the years.

Always sad were the mortalities, though my class of 1976 weathered the gauntlet better than some - keeping in mind the school dates to 1936, and anyone vaguely familiar with world history can imagine the carnage wreaked by the major wars.

Yes, I felt the same way about the 20. I didn't go to the 5 or the 10, started at the 15 (I felt there was enough distance). The 20 was great, and it was like people started to rekindle old friendships, and generally showed a true interest in each other as mature adults.

Sadly we lost a classmate a few weeks after the 20th. It is especially sad when everyone just saw someone, had pics together, and then he died in an accident.

I am hoping by the 30th that Gilbert will be able to stop by. He gets out enough that even on the beach I can calm him down when he sees kites and helicopters, which used to scare him. He seems to trust if I tell him it's ok, that he can calm down and just sit on my shoulder.

Have fun, and good luck!

This thread reminds me that I'm like a little kid in comparison to most of the members here... lol
