Christmas trees, are they safe?

Every year my family has the tradition of going to a local tree farm and cutting down a Christmas tree and as I was on the phone with my Mother In Law making plans to go get our tree this year it dawned on me. Are trees safe for birds? She will not be close enough to touch/chew on it and will not come in contact with the water, But I just wanted to check...

Yes, you'll be fine as long as you keep your bird away from it.
