Hi,
I just started my GCC on a chop with some pellets diet from a mostly pellet diet. Im not sure how much to offer him. I'm thinking about a table spoon of chop? I don't know how long to leave it in his cage either. I like to give him access to some food in his cage incase he gets hungry during the day while I'm gone should I leave him a few pellets to avoid spoiling of the fresh food?
Also he loves his new food and eats it good. I did have to trick him into thinking it was my dinner, but after that he loves it.
Thanks for any advice!

Hi there! It all kind of depends.

Some people leave pellets out for their birds all day and then offer chop at certain times (like morning and night), as a supplement. I myself am in the midst of trying to convert my two cockatiels to a chop diet, and they are very used to seeds and pellets. So when I feed them (morning and night), I feed them a 3:1 mixture of their old food to new chop and mix it all up. Soon I'll be moving to a 2:1 ratio, then I want to be able to serve them all chop twice a day with pellets offered in the afternoon.
