Parrots
Pepper, a Timneh African Grey
The rehome Timneh I was looking into called me back. We are playing phone tag now.. Timneh African Grey young DNA sexed female - Birds - Facebook

I then found another ad for a CAG that is good with kids. 9 year old female African Grey | Vancouver | eBay Classifieds (Kijiji) | 20098527

Then there is Shirley at Big Nest in Texas.
Bignest Aviary Home to African Greys and Macawsi

Then I found somebody with one year old Timenehs, gender unknown, in Florida. Welcome to Parrots R Us - Parrots R' UsSome things sound good, but somet things sound a bit iffier. He doesn't gender test, he only listed these two birds now and they are a year old. He feeds zupreem, which seems ok but there was no mention of fruits or vegetables. He gave me the name of his vet and says he's accreditted through Fish and Game. He has lots of kids that socialize with the birds. He wouldn't go into much detail about their personalities but is going to email me some pictures. Some of the feedback on his website mentions him selling eggs which seems like a weird no-no to me. There is a big negative on birdbreeder and the same person left neg feedback on two other boards talking about how he sent her two macaw breeder pairs but they wound up all being males and him handling it poorly, yelling and such. Soo I'm strongly leaning away from him.

I would hope one of the rehomes would be perfect but I admit to being nervous-what if they bird has serious behaviour issues that would be hard to work through, and they totally didn't even tell me about them, and I spent all that money on a bird that would be miserable in our family. But I have called them and left messages with both owners, so here's hoping for a phone call that tells me a lot and I get a good feeling about.I would strongly lean towards the second bird, the nine year old. It really looks like she is well cared for with a nice cage and toys and she's used to kids. According to the emails of the first lady her Timenh doesn't play with very many toys, which seems odd to me. I thought Timnehs were in general pretty active in their first few years. Also, the CAG is only a two and a half hour drive from me. I'd much rather do that than the 8 hour drive for the TAG.

So yeah-I'll keep you updated! I'm getting closer to being a bird owner. Just questioning my every move, that's all!
