Hey guys,

I have go leave tomorrow for a work trip for a few days and sadly I need to board Jasper.

Since he's on a pretty specific diet I decided to provide all of his food for the vet (where he's being boarded) do I know exactly what he's going to be eating.

I soaked chick peas all day when I was at work then cooked them when I got back, chopped up the rest of his food and bagged everything.

I just realized that I never cut into the chick peas to see if they were cooked completely. I was in such a rush trying to get everything done I totally forgot. Of course they're already all mixed together with his other food.

If they weren't completely cooked will they be ok???? I know you can give them sprouted and they're safe, but what about in this scenario??

Thank you!

Hi, I cook Levi chickpeas & I never cut them. He breaks through them w/ little effort.
I’m sorry you have to leave Jasper. I would probably do the same thing if I had to leave Levi. I’d rather him be at my Vets than a bird shop.

Good Luck & I’ll say a prayer that Jasper fairs well in your absence.

If chickpeas can be fed sprouted, then they may very well be fine the way you cooked them without checking.

I'd be more concerned if you couldn't feed it sprouted, only cooked, and you weren't sure if you cooked them enough.

Thanks for the replies. When I got up I tried to squish one in the bag and it was pretty mushy so I think they're fine.

Birdie mommy brain at 7am worrying......... LOL

I've only boarded him once before for 3 days but its been quite awhile. I hope he'll be ok :( I am leaving a novel of instructions and making sure I have at least an hour there before going to to the airport so I can go over everything with them.

She'll be just fine with the chickpeas as they are, but she knows how deeply you care!

Have a wonderful time... great to get away but better to return!
