So I am leaving for South Carolina next friday. Flying down annd driving back with my husband. A friend wwill be staying at my house to take care of everybooday :)

Anyway I decided I needed a hair cut and it needed to be dyed (since I found my first grey hair 12 years ago when I was visiting Japan).

I got home late last night shut lights off said goodnite briefly to the birds (I was wearing a baseball cap at the time) and went to bed. Now the birds aren't use to me being gone because I am nearly always home, and yesterday I was gone for about 4 hours... so some of them could be moody about that (though I doubt it). Anyway I did chores this morning and the birds are really unfriendly today. My umbrella Moe won't even let me touch him. I went from long auburn (and grey) hair to very short and so dark it's almost black. They don't approve... I've been through this before, it will take the next few days before they forgive me for the change. I keep getting that dissaproving cockatoo squint everytime I talk to him.

So, what changes have you made to yourself or home that the birds clearly didn't approve of?

I have never had this problem, but my sister had a cockatiel. When my mother was visiting, she treated her to cut & color. When they came home, the cockatiel shrieked when he saw my mother. Mom thought her hair must look terrible, she was upset. My sister told her that it looked great, she shouldn't take the birds opinion over hers. They are both nuts. lol

I make flower headbands and I wear them daily. However, the day I brought Max home, I don't think I had a headband on. I notice he doesn't want to be near me if I am wearing one, so I try to remember to take it off before I approach him :)

lmao merlinsmom! Poor bird! Poor mom, though I do have to say, Good for her! taking the birds opinion, IMO I think everyone should listen to the animals, weather it be theirs or not.

I go through this every Monday. I work 1/2 a day on sat, so I'm not home to put Romeo to bed. Then I don't even see her on Sunday, I leave to early to wake her up and by the time I get home shes been in bed for a few hours :(. I miss her terribly every weekend and my poor boyfriend has to deal with extra screaming while I'm gone. Every Monday I get the cold shoulder, heaven forbid I don't see her for 1 1/2 days. She hates it and I have to deal with tantrums and lots of refusals on Mondays. She wont even train on Mondays. She only gets seed during training, that shows you how mad she gets at me. I suffer through them, then the rest of the week is great.

It's tough when a bird is mad at you, they can be extra bad...lol

They'll be lots of fun when I get back from being gone for 5 days!

They love to give my bird sitter a miserable time (so much so, that I'm sending the macaws to stay with my breeder friend (because unless they're outside in their aviaries, my macaws are never caged... we don't even own cages for them). All the macaws live on play gyms etc... and while they don't usually do anything bad, I am pretty sure they'd eat a hole in the side of my aviary out of spite...lol
