Hi.well after a week with no sleep from weighing the pros and cons ,a lot of reading, and wrecked nerves She is finely home:). I went to meet her,and at 1st sight I was taken. I was able to give her pistashios but she would not get up on my arm,but after a couple minutes she was letting me pet her head and licking my hand. The owners did say she is always hard to get while on top of cage. Finely the owner got her down and she then made the transition to my arm.I sat down with her on my lap and she immediately pooped on me:D.I petted her for awhile while talking about her diet, likes and dislikes, and after seeing the tears in the owners eyes decided it was time to get it done.
now.How do i get her home i am wondering. They told me she would do fine on my lap.I had a big cage just to carry her in ,but knew with the opening of the door size ,i wasnt even going to try to get her in there.I made it out to the van with her and there she was on my lap.(my Son was the driver) She sat there looking out the window at her family,i sure wondering what was going on and let out a ear wringing sqwak!!! I told my son to start driving. Carona sat there watching traffic and seemed so calm.I breath a sigh of relief. We still have 100 miles to go.It was awesome.I was feeding her nuts and seemed like she could not get enough. The big cage I had taken with me then looked like a nice perching place.I had put it right in the middle and just in back of the van seats.I needed to move a bit as she was geting heavy on my legs and she transitioned right back on top of the cage.Just watching out the window going down the highway, she was very content. We finely made it home and now was time to go in.She did not then want to get on my arm to carry her in,but I finely won that battle. My son had already carried her play gym in the house so I had something to put her on right away.Soon as we were assembling her cage, she was off her play gym walking all around exploring. She found ErnieBirds cage and wanted on there.Ernie got a little loud.I distracted her got her back on playgym, and finished getting her cage in place. After about 5 minutes after cage was in place she found her way there. She is home!!!

It initially breaks my heart to hear of a rehome situation, especially when you said she was looking out the window at her family and let out a loud scream. But it sounds like she went from one loving home to another. Please let us know how the transition is going.

It reminds me of when we got Mac. The lady was crying as soon as we started loading up the carrying cage with Mac in it. She motioned for us to drive away because she was losing it. I started getting out of my truck and my wife said I think she wants to leave now. But I couldn't leave her like that. So I got out and went over to her and she said I was hoping not to break down until after you left. I hunged her and gave her a shoulder to cry on for a few minutes. I looked at my wife who was sitting in the truck and she was crying as well. Mac was mainly her husbands bird and he had passed away a few months before she gave me Mac. So it was a real heart wrenching experience all the way around.

BUt on the other hand, when the lady and her husband dropped Tiki our Senegal off, they couldn't get away quick enough and seemed to show no emotion either way.

It was sad.I was in tears, and I know how much it hurt them. They had given me detailed information of her diet, for which i cooked Carona an Awesome breakfast.Ernie bird as well and Carona is talking up a storm.Once in awhile lets out a loud yell, but it's just a yell or 2 and stops. Then back to saying whats up or just back to chewing her blocks. Also they gave me her sleep time and other scheduled activities..As my schedule is different than theirs,it will be a gradual change for Carona, but I will do my best to keep her familiar with what she is used to,at the same time introducing her to new. its really not going to take much as for her getting to trust me i do not think, but to get her off her cage right now,i am only able to do that by pushing her playgym next to it..She readily get right off her cage then, right on the play gym and then on to the floor..I have had to move a few things..She found she loves my purse!!! I so love Her :blue1: :)
