Last month there was a post detailing a spray someone uses to repel bugs and I can't remember the name of it. I remember it was natural and bird-safe, and was citrus-based. If anyone can remember, please tell me! I want to give it a try.

Orange Guard? What you're describing sounds just like this. It does not work on ants at all. :(

That's exactly what I was thinking of. I'm trying to decide if I want Orange Guard or the Control Aviary spray. Gotta repel those bugs. I've read reviews of Orange Guard that do claim it's not useful for ants.

Ants are literally the one bug I need to repell.

Most products that are natural and animal safe don't repel ants. What I have found that works for me is food grade DE. I always have it on hand ever since I got quail. The ants are the biggest nuisance. They love drinking water out of my guinea fowls water dishes. They huddle around it (and even drown but more come back to drink the water and eat their dead) so I sprinkle the DE around the water dish and they avoid it but alas, the wind or the guineas flying down from their roost blows the DE away and the ants return.

Is it ant season around here now? We just had to deal with a SWARM of carpenter ant's leaking from the ceiling. Not to mention the silverfish and cockroaches!

Here in Hawaii the bugs are, well, it's a tropical island so...
