Do any of you burn candles with birds? I'd like to place some around my shrine.

Unscented I assume? Anything else I should keep in mind?

Thanks Wozzy for the link to the other thread. This would only be for my shrine, at night, in my room before bed.

Flameless candles might be the way to go even thought it isn't the same experience...

Yah- I agree, flameless candles don't have the same effect but maybe you could find some decent ones that are pretty close...?...my mom has some at her house and I thought they were real until my toddler grabbed one and tossed it on the floor and I saw the battery compartment haha

Go electric/battery operated. The concept is the same, light, heat, fire. It's a perfectly valid substitute. :)

Please keep in mind I'm NOT advocating this... Don't try this at home :11:
But years ago, I'd regularly burn scented candles in the same room as Robin... and he's 'only 20' this year and still going strong. I still light a candle very occasionally, but in a farther away room.

I've heard of bird going into respiratory distress and dying (on this very forum) over candles, especially the ones with the metal tabs for wick bases. It's just not worth the risk. Their lungs are extremely delicate, and coupled with air-sacs it's a risk just not worth taking. It can also cause breathing difficulties down the road.

I know it's a bit late, however there are supposedly bird safe candles out there on the market now. I never use candles if I don't have to, so have never purchased any.
