Is Candidiasis a contagious disease and if do how does it spread from what I have read online it is a normal resident of a birds digestive tract and attacks when the birds immune system is weak but cabt find info on if its contagious and how it spreads.

candida is yeast I believe-- humans can pass it to humans via certain types of ...cough...contact...but in birds, it doesn't take that sort of interaction to spread it, depending on the type/cause.

Yes, it is contagious in birds...assuming we are talking about the same thing and depending on the root of the "infection".

I do think humans can give it to birds, but not sure that a human with a healthy immune system could get it from a bird.

I wouldn't say that all yeast in a bird is "extremely dangerous" (as stated above---unless it is in a baby!!!) but it can be if it is secondary and if it isn't dealt with promptly....When I think extremely dangerous, I think things that can kill wilthin minutes or cannot be treated. Yeast is not like that-- it can generally be treated but you do need to deal with it and figure out if there is an underlying cause.

Here is another link: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-...cans is a common,), especially in young birds.

Okay thanks so if I was to touch the cage door of a bird who has it and then touch my bird it's not likely for the infection to spread like that.

I mean, probably not...not sure...you should wash hands between contact.
