It's possible they are from the mustache parakeet family, but that is just a guess.

could you give us more info how you came across these birds?... where you purchased it from,(ie:store, etc... how you came home with them etc.

I wish I could tell you but it a very unique looking bird. I love it's green coloring and the face is adorable. I'm surprised the store you purchased your parrot from didn't know what kind it was. I did notice you don't state where your from, so I'm wondering how you got the birds out of Cambodia?

I know this may sound rude, but why would you buy an animal you know nothing about? I mean that is extremely risky and irresponsible. I agree that it is a young moustached parakeet, very young. As well his diet needs to be more then the seed in the picture.

After doing some research yesterday night I found that these are in fact Psittacula Alexandri also known as mustched parakeets / parrots.
I bought them from an individual. I bought them because I knew they were one of the 6 parrots found in Cambodia.
I had lovebirds in the past so I decided its time to get a smarter bird. I also have enough free time to take care of them... Now I'm doing research on how to grow them properly as far as diets and training.
By the way I'm living in Cambodia and grown parrots like these are sold at the stores for $50.
Any recommendations on diets & taming / training would be highly appreciated.

Some of us have done that one time or another. I bought a bird once without knowing a single thing about them. The red fronted kakariki. But she liked me after several visits so we decided to bring her home. Then I started non stop research on them to learn all about them. Sometimes you just have an connection with the bird without knowing anything about them. And sometimes they become one of your most beloved babies as mine did....

This my Derbyan Parakeet. If you have pictures of the front chest, it would be easier to tell the type.

It's hard to tell because of not being able to see the front. Moustashed parakeets have a blushy colored front. I am thinking it is a Derbyan Parakeet. They can be a little nippy and more on the noisy side. I suggest reading up on them, i have not owned one myself but i have been around young derbyans.

you are right, but even from the back, it seems more like a moustashed than a derbyan. I've seen a lot moustashed and derbyan.

I vote Moustached. Although similarly colored, there is a huge size difference between the two. I was quite surprised after being accustomed to seeing the Moustache keets and then to see a Derbyan! Moustache on steroids!!!!!! LOL

As far as I can tell, Derbyans are "highly colored" as chicks, where-as the Moustaches are more dull colored.
