Can I use Aviclean to clean the water bowl?

Pepper always dips his food in his water, then stands on the bowl while he eats. He gets food all along the outside of the bowl, and of course on the inside. Since I already use Aviclean to get off the tough poops, would it be alright to use in his bowl too? I intend to rinse it out after scrubbing it down, but I was curious if I should just stick to washing it with vinegar and water.

Is it plastic or stainless? I just wash stainless ones with really hot water and dish soap rinsing well after. I don't think I would use the cleaner especially if the bowls are plastic. I use the Aviclean on poop and dried food and it is great stuff way better than poop-off which I find offensive, way too strong of a smell.

Yes I would if I were you. I really don't like plastic dishes, too porous and difficult to keep clean.

Agree, stainless steal bowls over plastic any day. I also like ceramic due to the weight.
Dawn dish detergent, I clean bird and dog bowls with it, also before the last rinse I scrub the dogs in it, its a good flea agent.

Stainless all day every day!!! I usually scrub mine with dish soap and spritz them with my vinegar solution if she poops in them. Also I toss a couple in the dishwasher with every load. The ooonnnnlllly problem with stainless steel is that some birds are afraid of it because of the reflective surface and/or the noise. I would love to find a bird-safe stainless bowl with the weight of a ceramic bowl! Invention time, anyone?

I picked up a package of 6 SS cups at Ross, 3 bucks! Small, yes, but great for my assortment of snacks.

Thanks so much everyone! labell, you are right; I had a plastic bowl for Pepper's water before this one, and one day I lifted it up and it stunk so bad I threw it out immediately! Luckily I had a spare, but it was SO gross. I'll order a few from mysafebirdstore (the best store to be honest). Pepper hates when new things invade his space so I'll probably introduce the new bowls while the old are still out.

I've been shopping around for the original dawn soap too but it's so hard to find when every store cares the ultra concentrated formula. It looks like I might have to order it from Walmart's online store if I can't find it in their store tomorrow.
