Congo African Grey: Russell Peters (R.I.P. my baby)
Hi There,

We have an opportunity to rescue a Sun Conure, I am curious to know if it's possible for it to be in the same cage as my CAG. We bought Russell a gigantic cage a couple weeks ago for his B-day, there is soooo much room, it's like 3 sizes bigger than whats recommended (dimensions are bigger not bar spacing), he's now used to it and loves to play with all his toys now. because it's so big I was wondering if we did get the conure if it could live in there with Russell or would we have to put him in Russell's old cage which is still a fair size. This is not the deciding factor I am just curious, I think we have a good chance of getting him, there are 3 familys in line wanting to adopt him.

Thanks in advance for your feedback...... April

Wuv I would not want to take that chance personally due to the size differences. Over time if you see they become best buddies that may be a different story. Congrats. on the Sun. They are so lovely. How did the rescue come about if I may ask? Your grey may be very threatened by the new bird in the beginning. Best to make Russell feel like alpha bird becasue he was the resident bird. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks SB, yeah I think you're right, he's just getting used to his new castle and to throw in another bird may upset him.
We came across the Sun by chance, I love to drive to the various aviaries they have here around the Toronto area on the weekends just to see the birds, they had one there but it was their pet and I was in love with him. The owners knew of an aviary rescue centre and told me they had one there. so we went this past weekend just to see him but then he tugged on my heart strings with all the kisses and neck cuddles. i was sold and completed the adoption papers with my husband.
I really hope we get him, it's such a wonderful feeling knowing I have the opportunity to help save such a beautiful creature.
I will keep him in Russy's old cage which is still pretty big.

Ok, today was the day we found out we were not the new guardians of the Sun Conure I have fallen in love with:(. Oh well everything happens for a reason, I'm sure he went to a very lovely home. I am sad but it was probably for the best, especially Russell, I don't think he would handle the addition too well right now.:grey:
