So this is strange and a little bit gross, but..

I was snuggling up with my daughter's conure reading a book and I've got a bit of a head cold right now. I didn't really occur to me before that I might be able to pass it on to him, but all of a sudden he stuck his little beak right up my nose and decided to sample some of my stuffiness.

Obviously I won't let him go digging for gold anymore now that I realize he has an interest in it, but do I need to stay away from him until my cold clears up?

ROFL!!, I'm just getting over a stupid cold too...can't believe I had one at the beginning of July.
your rendition of where he put his beak gave me a chuckle.
....sorry I can't help you with your question.

I don't think they typically get the cold virus from humans (just from my personal experience with a lot of colds since I have had birds in close contact with me) but i'll agree with your decision to keep birdie out of your stuffy nose, LOL. good call.

aha but that being said, sometimes what we think is a cold is actually a slight sinus infection, bacterial, and I think they can get sick from that, possibly.

No, rest easy, human colds are not zoonotic.....though there are other things that are.....
