Please watch this video I took with my BNP, Cooku. I dont know what he is trying to tell me. He is on the process of settling in my place as he is barely one week with me. He is already tamed when I got him. He has not bitten me but sometimes He would open his beak as if he will bite me. He has not trusted me fully, but steps on my fingers already. Sometimes he takes food from may hand and sometimes does not. And then this behavior I dont understand.

He's just sizing you up, and deciding if he can trust you. You're new to each other. Give him time. At least he's friendly and unafraid. Go slow and build trust. He's beautiful!

Gosh, I could look at him for hours, he's SO magnificent!!!

Ok, here's a hunch I have: I "think" he's pinning his eyes and doing the motions because he's leery/watchful over the big fish behind him. :D

When you take him into the other room, where he doesn't see the fish, see if he still acts this way. :)

Great Billed Parrot, we were just discussing about this bird last night with a member on here, wings!

To the poster, to me it looks like excitement what he's doing. We don't have that type of parrot readily available here as I have never encountered them in person. So I can only speculate what he's doing comparing to other types of parrots. He's beautiful regardless!!!! :)

To me he looks unsure. New sights and new sounds. He looks like he is trying to find an escape root. Is he flighted? If he was flighted he could just fly away from whatever it was that made him uncomfortable, but if he is clipped then cant and that makes for an uncomfortable situation.

Go at his pace, watch his body language carefully. He will tell you when he is uncomfortable, by his body language. If you respect his boundaries, and go at his pace while use positive reinforcement you will build a better bond. So to me that's how he looked - uncomfortable and wanted to fly away to a safer location.

I know now what he means by that behavior. I have been observing him and he becomes so attached to me. He trusts me fully. Well, that behavior, when I tolerated him to do, led to a "mating behavior". He is just in "love". Cant a bird recognize that we are of the same gender? lols.. :) BTW, I changed his name to PIXIE, as suggested by my son. It comes from the word "PIKOY" the local name of the bird in our native tongue.
