12 week old green. Cheeck conure named Lucifer
That belongs to my son
I wanted to get a Senegal parrot. . My son just bought a 12 week
Old green_cheeck-conure. Would it be safe for me to bring a Senegal
Into the same house ?I have had a Senegal before-the birds would be
In separate cages with their own space-but in the same room.
Would this be safe ? If there was a lot of supervision ?
I really want a senegal-but I want the birds to be safe and happy.

That is so hard to predict. So much depends upon the personality of the birds. I have a Sennie and two Blue Crown Conures which are larger than him. But he would gladly try to eat them both if they got too close to him. And I have to be more cautious now since his spring hormones have started to flow. Earlier this week, my elderly female Blue Crown was peacefully perched on an end table around 15 feet from his cage. He suddenly launched, zoomed past me and went straight at her. Fortunately she saw him coming and took off and he mostly missed with just a few wing slaps and he circled back to his cage. Time out for Sidney! And a lot more cautious for me now with that warning.

Sid is my second Sennie and he has a totally opposite personality than what my sweet and gentle Kelly had. But even she showed some aggression towards some budgies the only time I had her and there were other birds around. She flew over to their cage and was stomping around on top looking for a way in to get at them. Had an ice storm emergency and was forced to put the neighbor's birds together with her in the only room with heat when the power was out. Otherwise I would have quarantined her from them. But it was an eye opener.

If you do get another Senegal, I would be very cautious about having the two birds interact. Especially with as powerful as a Senegal's bite can be and Green Cheeks being smaller. They can probably exist in the same room well enough but I would go into it with the expectation that they will not be friendly to each other and possibly downright hostile. Separate out times might even be necessary. But if they do get along or at least tolerate each other, that would be great. Just don't get complacent because something simple could lead to an altercation where one could get hurt.
