I recently got a macaw from someone that was unsure of what species it is. He's had it for about 10 years and the previous owners are no where to be found, possibly left the island. It looks like a Calico macaw hybrid but still a bit different from the Calicos I see online. Do anyone have an idea of what breed this one could be?

It's head is partially plucked but otherwise its in good health. Is it possible for the feathers to grow back? The macaw it was with before used to pluck it, I'm guessing this probably occurred for a few years, in other words it has been bald for a few years.

It's a very beautiful bird, I love its chest feathers; the pattern and colors are truly amazing. It's back has a light shade of yellow blending into the green, it almost looks like a highlighter yellow glowing over the green!

I would call it a happy Macaw in a good home. No more need be said...

But Yes it looks like a calico

I don't know anything about macaws, but that is an absolutely stunning bird! Have not seen a macaw with his coloring ever before!

Neither have I! I absolutely love the colors and patterns :)
But still I'd really like to know about its species and if its feathers will possibly grow back. I mean its no big deal about a little bald head, I'll possibly reach that point in 20 years or so :09:

I love to know what my birds are too [Im with you ] .I don't Know ? You got us all looking :) I love my hybrid [I have a Catalina] and my other 2 are on eggs and that will be a Harliquin. maybe theres a 3rd bird in there. Gw ,military and ?

I see it has the yellowish green back of a shamrock but it's chest... Haven't seen any pictures of macaws with such a chest. Most of the hybrids I've seen have a somewhat solid color and not patterned chest unless it's a Camelot or something similar of a second or third generation hybrid.

I think you found it ! I see the slight yellowish on the side {of his head] where his feathers are plucked.
