I have a rehomed BHC, approximately 8 years old. We've had him for a year and have found that we have to trim his beak at least every 3-4 months. He came to us on an all seed diet, and we haven't been able to transition him onto pellets or fresh veggies. Each are available to him daily, but the only fresh item he'll eat is, unfortunately, a grape. I even make fresh birdie bread for my flock that has Harrison's pellets as its 'flour' base. Still he won't even touch those. He's on a high quality seed diet with dried fruits and veggies. He'll reconstitute some of the dried fruit.
Do caique's beaks usually grow at a fast pace? He's not a wood chipper, either. Tried many varieties of toys he could destroy.
