So, this isn't a very sad topic, but I thought it belonged best here. In my family, we deal with hard times using humor. Hopeful, this will lighten someone's day.
My wife's family has become very attached to our little Caiques. Bunsen & Beaker have dinner with all of us on the weekends, and they get showered with love. My wife's grandmother collapsed yesterday while mowing the lawn. She's had several heart related visits to the hospital. During this one, they had to put another stint into an artery that was clogged at 95%.
It was very touch and go yesterday, as they weren't sure if the stint would hold. The surgery was a success, though and we got to visit her in the hospital afterwards. As we walked in, she looked happy to see us and then immediately dejected. In a slurred and sleepy voice she replied, "Awwww... I thought you were going to bring my grand-ducks."
It was a nice moment.
