So it's my third time misting him...Aloe Vera/bottled water. I mist him and he lowers his head, opens his wings, fluffs and when the cage door closes... He runs into his water dish and starts dunking himself, squawking, tugging on his toys etc. this lasts for ten minutes. He plucks to his down on his belly, but I've reduced it by about half.

Is this behavior normal? My gut tells me he enjoys it, but reading these birds is a challenge to me.

Any comments are appreciated.

I don't have a cag, but when I mist my zons they do the same thing. I think that the misting gets them in the mood for a bath:) I think it is a good sign!

I let him dry, and then put him out in a sun/shade cage on the back deck. It was 75F. He isn't grooming near as much. Might put him on a daily misting protocol before I leave for work. Maybe he was itchy from lack of baths. The excited behaivor was the strangest thing I've seen him do...he was playing rough and tearing all over the cage. We will see if this gives us some feather growth and a happier bird.

I would mist if he seems to enjoy it! I am so jealous my bird hates it she flies away from me :(
