Cage Skirt???

For years I have been ordering replacements online for the plastic "tray" that sits under my cockatiels' cage. It isn't the flat one that slides out and has the litter on it. It has flared sides and extends beyond the edges of the cage itself. I see them included on cages that are for sale, but with no description.

Now I can't find them anywhere. I don't know if I'm searching for it with the wrong terminology, or if they just aren't made and sold anymore.
I've tried: Seed guard, mess catcher, seed skirt, and a variety of others.

Can anyone tell me what the "official" name is for this kind of "tray"?
Or does anyone know where I can get them or something like it?

It's the greatest thing. Keeps my carpets safe from their dropping when my Tiels sit on top of their cage.

This is the last one I have and as you can see, it is in bad shape.

Sadly, there is not an official name for them as near every cage manufacturer has they own name for them.

There are several cage resellers (warehouses) that have direct connections with their manufacturers and provide a wide cross-section of cages and accessories. From what I have seen in several of the larger manufacturers is a tend away from plastic seed catchers and over to products made from metal. This product is very common with mid to large Parrots who would quickly make tiny pieces of a plastic product.

I would recommend that you consider a four piece metal product, which is standard on larger Parrot cages. Now that is easy to say, a bit more difficult to find, as you will need to search Websites for a cage that is the same size as your cage and has metal seed catchers.

I cannot assure you that BirdCages4Less.com has what you are looking for, but they are a site I would start at.

Hope that this helps.

FYI: Welcome to Parrot Forums!

Metal would be great. Then I wouldnā€™t have to keep replacing it. I havenā€™t been able to find anything like it in any material. I will check the website you mentioned. Thank you so much for the reply.

I want to thank you, SailBoat. I searched through the website you directed me to and although I was not able to find what I was looking for on that site, it did give me ideas for terminology to use while searching.

I finally found something that might work. It doesnā€™t have a bottom like the ones Iā€™ve used in the past, but beggars canā€™t be choosers. This is where I found it in case anyone else is looking for one.
Drsfostersmith.com and search for Universal Cage Seed Guard.

Iā€™ve been looking for weeks, and I guess I should have just started here. LOL.
Thanks again.

Franky... amazed they would make those out of plastic. So fragile!

(I learn something new every day)

I only know the metal ones- and I chuck them every single time I get a cage with them on it.
(More hindrance than help imho)
They never have a bottom/ alsways just something like a raingutter add-on.

Glad you found something!
