I just bought an African Grey and I think his cage is too small. He has been living in the same cage for at least 2 years. The cage is 24 in. x 20 in. He appears to have plenty of room. I read that an African Grey needs a cage 36 in. x 36 in. The largest I can find is a 37 in. x 23 in. It says it is ideal for African Greys, but I don't know what to do. Is this cage OK?

i think its not big size cage but if you have more space pl arrange more bigger size cage for ur a gray :grey:

I'm glad you are planning to buy a bigger cage. I am in the process of buying a cage for a conure and am planning on getting a cage that is bigger than the one your Grey currently resides in.

24 x 20 is a tiny cage, better suited for a conure. My galah came in a 20w x 17d cage, it was tiny and she didn't even have enough room to spread her wings fully.

Have you looked at eBay? There are some great deals, and many of the cages have free shipping. 23 deep isn't too big, but it is better than what you currently have. I bought a 36w x 27d x 68 tall cage for only $215($240 with tax) for my galah cockatoo. My African gray lives in a similar sized cage. I think these are great sized cages to medium sized birds.

36 inches wide is the minimum size for a Grey. As always, if you can afford and have the space get the biggest cage possible. Good for you for getting your new friend a bigger cage!

I agree with Grinder, I would recommend the biggest cage you can buy. Make sure the bar spacing is appropriate as well. About 3/4" to 1" is good. Amazon also has cages and great prices with free shipping.

32 x 23 cage would be the absolute minimum for a grey that I would recommend, but that is assuming the grey takes to the cage and does not become neurotic about the change.
