Can you guys recommend me a good cage for a Senegal under 300$? I want it to be big enough that he stays inside comfortably when I am not home but not too big where he doesn't want to come out when I am home. When I am home I will let it out all the time. I will only be out for 5 hours a day usually.

Also what's better a dome top or a play stand top?

I have the dome front EZ care cage from Petsmart $199.00 plenty big and easy to clean. and comes with a play gym on top.

Dome-top = More space inside
Play-top = more space on the outside

With dome top and flat top cages, you can always create your own gym on the outside/top of the cage.

For a lot of space for a great price, you could always look into flight cages. I have one [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UTZ040/ref=s9_simh_gw_p199_d0_i3?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=13C924VH55H3ZMFNGB0H&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846"]HQ Flight Cage[/ame], 32 x 21 ([ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MZV1Q6/ref=s9_simh_gw_p199_d0_i5?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=13C924VH55H3ZMFNGB0H&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846"]A&E version[/ame]) and one [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Double-Flight-Cage-Divider-Color/dp/B00494MWRM/ref=sr_1_2?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1349371938&sr=1-2&keywords=double+flight+cage"]A&E Double Flight Cage[/ame], 64 x 21.

There is this flight cage, although I have no experience with it...

I have a WI32R for my mitred conure, and the WI32 is the play top version.

I got my cages second hand (not necessarily used), so got them for good prices.

There are other options out there, but I would recommend staying clear of open top cages. If you do end up with an open top cage, then secure the top doors closed in some way that the bird could not open it from the inside. If you ever do open them, be sure there is a way to secure the doors open other than using a perch. I have heard of one too many deaths (and believe me, one is enough!) caused by an open top cage, and I wish to hear of no more!

I have this cage, I got it new in the box at the local flea market/flea world in my area for a really good price. I don't recommend the dishes in it and the perches have become a shred toy... she doesn't sleep in this cage though, for whatever reason, she prefers to sleep in her incredible small cage.

I recently bought this cage (inside dimensions 22"x24"x37") on Amazon for under $200 shipped and am very happy with it: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002SMC25E/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00"]Amazon.com: New Large Play Top Bird Cage Parttot Finch Macaw Cockatoo Birdcages: Pet Supplies[/ame]
Obviously the title is way off and the cage is made in China, but when compared to other brands such as Prevue Hendryx, it is a bargain.

This is my first post, by the way! I don't have a parrot YET. I have been trying to find a Poicephalus rescue to adopt. :)

are you sure those are the dimensions? did you get the cage yet? I saw that exact cage in ebay i believe and the dimensions were the same , but i contacted the seller and he said the dimensions were including the seed catcher part so its not the inside dimensions.

Yes, the dimensions are correct, I have assembled the cage, the interior dimensions are just under 22"x24"x37" (subtracting for the thickness of the walls). In case it helps, the box it came in had the model number "SKY662" on it.
