Cage Cover - Quick question

I hope this isnt a stupid question but I cant seem to find the answer in any book or the internet.

I have just bought a cage cover for our GCC's cage (Elmo's shack!), we've had her a week now and not used a cover so far as the one I ordered online took ages to arrive. Normally at bedtime I turn off the light in the room but leave the door slightly ajar so there's just enough light to see when your eyes adjust to the dark, Elmo usually has a few minutes of eating before she settles down and sleeps then later on I shut the door to the room. What I want to know is when I use the Cage Cover will she be able to see her surroundings? Do Conures have better low light vision than us humans?
I just have visions of her fluttering all over the cage trying to find things.

It is good for the birds to have a little light so they do not fall from the perch. Some use a night light. If one uses a cage cover you could only cover the cage partially.

i use a large sheet over angels cage and have a night light for her. they soon learn the routine, within 5 mins of lights out it goes very quiet....apart from the odd birdy snore LOL

I bought a set of bedsheets on clearance at Target and I use that to cover Bella's cage. She can still see a little bit of light through her two covers (I use 2 sheets) but it isn't enough to keep her up... Just enough for her to be able to see to get around.

Is it a bad idea to cover up three sides and leave one open so that your birds can still see and you can talk to him/her a little bit before and he can watch you falling asleep. Something to get used to him/her a little bit. I was planning on doing that with Skyler.

I don't cover my birds cage they hate it and hiss when I do then on top of that they seem to have more night frights so I find that leaving the cage uncovered works best for everyone They have fewer night frights which means they are less grumpy and because they have few night frights I get woken up less which makes me happier.

I think covering partially is a great idea Covering just three sides so you could still see them and they could see you is nice too, also gives them a bit of light. I did this with my previous conure, Hiroshi

I used plastic zip ties to fasten old bed sheets over Ruby's and Jade's cages. The sheets are large enough to cover the fronts of their cages but the sides are still open...then the lights get turned off. This is really convenient because their cages are tall and I'm not, this makes it easy to put the cover on and take it off. Max had the same thing, but he chewed off the zip ties so his isn't attached.

This has worked pretty well for us. They never get covered unless it's bedtime.

i cover vincents cage at nite and have to say he is far better sleeper. when it wasnt covered he would been making noise first thing in morning now he likes wee sleep in

I cover Mishka's cage with a sheet during summer and a blanket during the colder months. I used to cover the entire cage, and noticed it took him a while to settle down. I then experimented and left an opening at the side, near where he sits on his perch. Since then, he settles down much quicker, and I reckon it's because he has some light showing in his cage.
