Cage...Cage...Caaaaaaage =(

Yep, we've got a little cage issue. well it's not that the cage is gone...It's that he loves it too much. I've been trying to get Oz to spend some time with me on my bed, but every time I take him more than 2 feet away from the cage, he spreads his wings wide and looks for a perch high enough that he could flap to it and goes back to first chance he gets.

He also poops EVERY time I take him away from it. Sometimes twice and quickly.

He does everything in his power to go back. If I'm standing, he climbs on my shirt and up to my shoulder, and just now while we were on the bed he climbed all the way to the top of my head to go back... How do I help him deal with the insecurities he seems to get when he's away from the cage? I'm afraid he'll hurt himslef trying to go back if he doesn't manage to flap all the way. Is there a way to help him, or will I always have to interact with him while he's on the cage?


Also still not having luck getting him to eat apples, bananas or hard boiled eggs.

Is there a treat or a toy he likes, only give that to him when he is away from his cage. It will get his mind off of getting back for a minute and give him time to know other places can be safe too.

I am having the exact same problem with Ninja. I put him in a new cage over a week ago, and he still loves being in it too much.

what has worked for me so far, is I'm letting him come out on his own. he still wants to interact with me, but as soon as I get near the cage, he'r right back in it....same issue your having with yours!

I put his food on the outside of the cage, so he would have to come out and eat, which has worked out very well.
they have to work thru it on their own, once they do everything should be fine.

Oh, he does come outside. He plays on top and on the sides of it and still loves his scritches. But if start taking him away, he'll stare at it and try to go back. If I manage to get it out of his sight, he just stands very still or, as I said, climbs on me to get it back in sight and get back to it. I tried giving him some millet, but he refuses to eat it if he's away from the cage
