Cabinet Staining and Polyuerithane Safety

We painted our cabinets with low VOC paint while our three parrots were in another room with the door closed and the project area was well ventilated.

The next step is now to stain and seal the cabinet doors (which can be done outside) and the actual cabinets (which can't be done outside).

Does anyone have experience with doing this type of project while birds are in the house? Is it necessary to board them for two days while applying the two coats?
