So I have FINALLY come down to the breeder Im getting my bird from.....and it was the first one I ever ever found. LOL. So all that searching for breeders was a waste. The place is called Parrot Safari. I have been there twice and the manager is awesome. He occasionally breeds birds and hand raises them. My mom is going to call in and request/make a deposit on my birdie. I CANT WAIT OMG. FINALLY. But....now I need to come up with 94 bucks to pay for the bird. But its worth it for that special bird :)

awww i acnt wait as well bet your alll weeeeee...... lol you know the rules!!! pics an lots lol

Im getting a normal just because I dont really care about color (personality before color!!) and normals are usually cheaper. Thanks SB :)
Edit: In one of the 3 times (I have actually been there 3 times not 2) I've been there I played with 2 green cheeks. My friend held one and I held the other, but both flew to me and they were running up and down my arm and preening my hair :) They were adorable and thats when I fell in love with green cheeks!!!
edit again: I also really like that this breeder lets people come in and interact with the birds....so all of them (i have handled a cockatiel, green cheeks, a gold cap conure, a caique, and even a GREEN WING!!!) are really really friendly. The green wings beak was scary but he was really sweet :)

I know they are, but you get what you pay for i guess....
Dont you breed green cheeks? How much do you sell yours for?

There is no price too much for the joy your are going to get over the next how many years???

The fact that you can go play with them is priceless. I got a pick of 7 when I got Maxx. I really could care less at the time what color he was, or the price. He picked me, and that was it.

Congrats on your new little one.

Wait... it has now come down to 2 breeders and I CANT DECIDE!!! AND I ONLY HAVE 2 DAYS!! 1 of the breeders I have visited 3 times, and one i have never visited but it has good reviews and I got sent there by another awesome breeder (that I would buy from but her green cheek pair is a young pair)
Also Parrot Safari is closer so I could visit my baby more often.

The problem is my mom cares about the price. But any bird I get i will pay it off and I have told her that.

Yes I do breed Green Cheeks. $275 for yellow-Sided and $350 for Pineapple. $325 is high for a Normal. Someone on this forum is going to a good breeder where the normal is $125(in NC). However, you need to factor in at least $125 for shipping. So you don't need shipping with the breeder you found. You get to meet and choose your baby, it is great too!

The reason I wasn't going to go to that breeder in the first place was the price. But you cant put a price on a bird that chooses you :)

That is soo so so so true! This is how we ended up with our Yellow Sided Green Cheek, Franklin...he was $399.00 plus tax and a couple new toys and we left the store $469.00 later with the most adorable conure I've ever met!

And we weren't even planning on getting anymore birds :/ We suck at saying "No" when we're the chosen ones. :) hahahahhaha!

Can't wait to "meet" your baby! Hurry up already!

Oh, that's Franklin in my avatar and many more photo's of him in my profile albums. I LOVE to show him off ;)

I think it's a store. When selling birds (or anything for that matter) through a retail outlet and not just home where they are a hobby their is a huge mark-up to cover the cost of the rent (or mortgage) in the building, hiring staff, maintenance, etc. That's just business. Thats why it's often cheaper to buy goods online as less of these costs are being 'passed on' to us as consumers. But often this is at the demise of good retail outlets as they cannot compete with price.

However they (the bird place) don't have to 'compete' with breeder prices either, because if you want a bird and it chooses you, your probably going to pay out for it! :p

It looks like a reputable store, but regardless of which way you go, good luck!

Thats what I thought. They have 2 stores, one in NY and one in NH. So Im sure thats why the birds are pricey.
