Yes I do it all the time. This one toy.he love it. It's 12.00 dollars and it can take him 10 minutes ans he's done with it. The.to has about 10 strings hanging down on it. And on the string is peices of what looks like straws. At the bottom of the string it is put in a knot. On each string. Well he just loved it the first time I bought it for him. He has found out that by undoing the knot all the pieces come off easy. So now when I give it to him he just go's for the knots. So I started hanging it up where it is very hard for him to reach it.
But he still finds away to get to it and I still buy it for him.

Oh yeah same here. Salty has a fav toy that he can go through in about 2-3 hours of concentrated chewing, also around 12 bucks. I stock up on them now, getting 3 or 4 at a pop. No one ever said parrots are cheap to have!

Many bird toys are costly but you can make them at home with a bit of creativity and safe pieces. Most of mine love to chew wood and are not fussy about shapes and colors. I purchase untreated 2 X 4s and cut into sections. Drill a hole and hang with stainless steel chain and C-clamps. You can do the same with smaller wood sizes.

Mine love that same toy! I picked up all the pieces once and reassembled it - it took me like two hours and I had cramps in my fingers from feeding the strings through the straws and tying knots.....I decided it’s totally worth the 12 dollars to replace regularly :)
