Parakeets
Hello,

So I used to have 2 pairs of parakeets until one of the males passed away. For the last three months, they've been living normally in their large cage together. But for the last 3 weeks, the females have been at each other's necks. It got so bad that we decided to remove the single female (Jerry). But they miss each other? like they're close to each other when the cages are separated. They don't stop looking for each other. Now I don't know if that's them trying to murder each other or embrace each other.

What do I do? Jerry wants to go back to the home cage but it's not good for her. Can I expect them to cool off at some point?

Thank You

Hi,
The main cage is to small for a bonded pair and a spare. Likely a larger cage and they would do better.

Budgie are so social and live in large flocks. But if its a pair and they feel the cage is their breeding nest, that could be the cause of the aggression

I definitely agree with Laurasea. A bigger cage will be beneficial for them. If they continue to fight, put them in separate cages.
