I have a english budgie that I got on Friday, as far as I could tell, the first 24 hours I don't think he ate. I had him in a separate cage, and he seemed quite down, kind of quiet. He came from a huge room with other birds flying around when ever he wanted, where ever he wanted.

Over the weeked he ate very little, again.... the same pattern, but was drinking water.
he seemed to enjoy the chatter of my other budgies, so I decided to put him in with them, in hopes that he would perk up and feel better about being in with his own kind.

Tuesday I bought new seed, I've seen him eating some, but his poop is off.
I looked up on the forum for some info on poop, but couldn't find what I was looking for, so I took some pics instead.

the first picture is of Higgins poop(the english budgie)
the second picture is of Higgins poop(the one that looks like it went splat), and the formed little poops are of my other two budgies, which are perfect.
You can see Higgins poop is not formed, like the other budgies.
He's sort of quiet, but not puffy, still chattering etc....

could his poop be like it is due to the lack of eating for the first few days here?
He's gone from a huge room flying around(10'x10') to a 2'x2'x2' cage, that is a big adjustment for him.
what do you think?

Can you use white paper or black and white newspaper or a white paper towel on the cage bottom and get back to us on that?

his poop has improved, I'm pretty sure it was just his lack of eating that particular seed. now that I've changed seed his poop is almost back to normal.....whew!

That's good! Hope he's ok!
